Pazham Pori | Banana Fritters
On a rainy day, all of us imagines in our mind that if I get a pazham pori with a hot tea. Wow, that will be more awesome moment. Here I am sharing one of the favourites of mine, that's pazham pori.
Pazham pori also known as ethakka appam is a fritter food with ripened plantain or banana and maida flour. It is a popular tea time snack in South Indian cuisines. It is used as a breakfast and tea time snack. It is very easy to make by using the available ingredients in our home.

BONUS TIPS
- Plantain- 2 nos, ripen, sliced
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Rice flour - 1 tablespoon
- Baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - a pinch
- Dosa batter - 1 tablespoon
- Yellow food colour - a few drops
- Water - 3/4 cup
- Oil for frying
INSTRUCTIONS
- Firstly peel the plantains and slice them into desirable shape. Then keep it aside.
- In a bowl, take all-purpose flour, rice flour, baking soda, sugar, salt and food colour. Blend well by adding water to it.
- Now add dosa batter and mix well. It is optional.
- Heat oil in a Kadai.
- Dip the plantain slices in the prepared batter and evenly coat them.
- Once the oil is heated up, fry the better-coated plantain slices by turning both sides are crispy and golden brown.
- Finally, drain over kitchen paper and serve pazham pori with a hot tea.
BONUS TIPS
- If you are health conscious then you can use wheat flour/ atta instead of all-purpose flour.
- Rice flour is used to get the crispiness of pazham pori.
- Use ripe plantains. Don't use overripe plantains.
- You can use turmeric powder instead of food colour. Or you can avoid this completely. It is only for colouring purpose.
- By adding dosa batter the pazham pori will get a special taste. You can avoid this also.
- You can also include cardamom powder in the batter.
